Accounting
This section will provide tools for the Housing Manager to establish proper accounting methods and practices related to their policies. Information will include managing the housing ledgers and arrears ledger; reporting of arrears and late payment. Options for accounting management software programs related to property management are also included.
Communications
Communications are a very important tool of any housing of infrastructure project. There are two levels of communications that need to take place: One is with the Leadership of the community and the second is with the community itself. This section provides the HM with the tools to develop a strong communications process for their project by preparing early, this can go a long way to ensuring that any confusion that may be surrounding you project can be eliminated early on in the project.
Counseling
This section will assist the Housing Manager in providing counselling services to new and existing clients living in their community. Tools include training options and document to help the Housing Manager work with the client to communicate tenant maintenance, housekeeping, budgeting and dealing with difficult client issues related to arrears management.
Intervention
This is a proactive approach to arrears counseling - Is there a problem with paying rent in the community? We can provide solutions for budgeting and further counseling - may include involving social or health services of the community
Records
This section reviews the record keeping requirements and management. It will provide clarification on the types of files the Housing Manager should maintain and the information that should be included with each unit and tenant file. Also maintaining a maintenance record for the entire First Nation Housing portfolio and financial record keeping.
